Nina Mkhize is a singer and composer from Durban who will be having a show on April 19 at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music, UKZN

Nina is a two time winner of the Old Mutual Jazz Encounters awards and has played stages such as the North Sea and Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festivals.

She has appeared live in concert with renowned jazz maestro Bheki Mseleku and appeared on recordings by artists such as Busi Mhlongo (Indiza), Ian Henderson (Free Falling) and Nibs van der Spuy (Flower in the Rain).

As a film scorer, she has contributed music to soundtracks for movies such as Izulu Lami (My Secret Sky) which won the DIKALO Best Feature Film prize at the 2009 Pan African Film Festival in Cannes, France.

This concert acts as a build up to a single she will be releasing soon to come out from her debut album that is scheduled for release in the near future. She will be accompanied on stage by Mandla Zikalala on bass, Bucco Xaba on drums and Mthobisi Mthalane on piano and keyboards.

Tickets for her show cost R70 for adults, R45 for pensioners and R20 for students.
